Here’s the Gist: Wolfspeed is seeking an EHS Engineer to join our Corporate Health & Safety team. The EHS Engineer will be directly responsible for leading and advancing our global industrial hygiene and safety standards across our operations. This individual will serve as the corporate subject matter expert in industrial hygiene, driving proactive hazard identification, exposure assessment, and risk mitigation for chemical, physical, biological, and ergonomic hazards inherent to our manufacturing and R&D processes. This individual will provide technical support for site EHS teams and business partners to ensure safety and health programs are implemented in alignment with corporate standards and regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health & Safety, Chemical Engineering, or closely related field required.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in industrial hygiene or safety, with a significant focus in high-tech manufacturing, preferably semiconductor, electronics, pharmaceutical, or chemical processing industries
  • In-depth knowledge of industrial hygiene principles (anticipate, recognize, evaluate, control, confirm – A.R.E.C.C), exposure assessment methods, and semiconductor-specific hazards (e.g., toxic gases, cleanroom ergonomics, radiation, etc.)
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills as well as a very curious mindset.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to influence cross-functional teams and leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of corporate industrial hygiene and safety standards and related training content.
  • Provide technical support for conducting workplace exposure assessments, including air sampling, wipe sampling, noise monitoring, ventilation evaluations, radiation surveys, and ergonomic risk assessments.
  • Analyze industrial hygiene monitoring data and prepare detailed technical reports recommending appropriate engineering controls, administrative controls, or PPE to maintain exposures below occupational exposures limits.
  • Collaborate with site EHS teams, manufacturing engineering. and facilities teams to ensure standardized implementation of internal EHS requirements and regulatory requirements.
  • Take the lead on safety and IH projects as needed.
  • Stays current on changing EHS regulations, research, and technologies to anticipate and address emerging risks.
