About The Position

Responsible to assist the classroom teacher to provide learning for infants and toddlers using a developmentally appropriate curriculum, promoting their social, emotional, physical, and intellectual growth through routines and activities. Must provide an inclusive environment for children in the classroom including children with special needs. Must abide by the Head Start/Early Head Start Performance Standards, Texas Minimum Standards for Child-Care Centers, and other Program Policies and Procedures.

Requirements

  • Must have a minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent with a current Infant/Toddler Child Development Associates (CDA).
  • Current certification in First Aid and CPR must be maintained.
  • Must have sufficient knowledge of early child development to perform work assigned.
  • Must be Bilingual (English/Spanish proficient).
  • Must have an automobile and current liability insurance as required for work related travel.

Responsibilities

  • Assists the teacher in classroom activities that provide children with a learning environment appropriate to the age and stage of development to include children with special needs.
  • Assists the teacher in implementing the educational program adopted for the Hidalgo County Head Start Program in conjunction with the Individual Education Plan (IEP).
  • Assists the teacher in supervising children at all times during indoor/outdoor activities to include children with special needs.
  • Assists the teacher in providing an inclusive educational environment and provide children the opportunity to actively participate in Family Style Serving during all meal times to include children with special needs.
  • Documents observation notes accordingly as deemed necessary.
  • Represents the Hidalgo County Head Start Program accurately and positively to the community.
  • Attends all training/workshops sponsored by the Head Start Program as assigned by the Administrative Staff.
  • Will be expected, on occasion, to work after regular working hours, and attend evening meetings, weekend training and out of town conferences.
  • Must attend all trainings deemed necessary by the Executive Director to comply with Texas Child Care Minimum Standards & Performance Standards.
  • Must adhere to and maintain the obligations as described in the Confidentiality Policies of the Agency.
  • Must comply with Program Policies and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Will be subject to transfer from campus to campus as needed upon the request.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor or Executive Director.
