We are currently seeking an experienced Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Coordinator to administer the company's EHS program. This person will primarily work with our manufacturing, construction, and customer service managers to further develop our current EHS program and training content; train, coach, and motivate our employees; investigate incidents and implement corrective actions as needed; and be a knowledgeable EHS resource for the company. The successful candidate must be a self-starter who works well with people.

Requirements

  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Current OSHA 500 or 510 highly desirable (candidate is expected to obtain OSHA 510).
  • EHS related training and certification is desirable (CSP, CEP, OHST, CHSM, etc.).
  • Bachelor's degree related to occupational EHS (preferred).
  • At least 5 years' experience in an EHS management role.
  • CPR/AED trainer certification desirable.
  • Ability to communicate fluently in English - both verbally and written.
  • Strong communication skills, the ability to collaborate effectively, and the capacity to influence behavior without direct authority.
  • Must be proactive, self-driven, able to work with minimal supervision or oversight including the ability to prioritize tasks and activities assigned from multiple departments.
  • Excellent working knowledge of OSHA CFR 1926 requirements for Construction Industry.
  • Prior experience working in the construction and manufacturing industries is a plus.
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills (MS Office Suite, etc.).
  • Must be physically fit and mentally resilient, as the position will require hiking at mountainous construction projects, in all weather conditions, which may be in remote or hard to access areas and will also require accessing all areas of the workshop which will require climbing ladders.
  • Ability to interpret and implement the requirements of various safety standards and publications.
  • Preparedness to navigate and drive in mud, snow, or slippery conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Administer the EHS program for our company, including Construction, Customer Service, and Electrical personnel working in the field; and Manufacturing, Assembly, Shipping, Warehousing, Office, etc. working at our headquarters in Salt Lake City.
  • Maintain and implement our EHS and its associated plans, procedures, and training programs in conjunction with department managers.
  • Perform incident investigations, root cause analysis, and propose corrective actions.
  • Participate in meetings with customers, project team members, and contractors/ subcontractors to advise on EHS requirements that may affect project design, schedule, and cost.
  • Work with job site leaders and field personnel to help them ensure compliance with OSHA, local jurisdiction, and company environmental and safety policies by conducting training, preparing and sending bulletins and information, maintaining a presence in the field/shop, being aware of ongoing activities, conducting safety audits, monitoring behavior and performance, etc.
  • Facilitate and/or perform environmental and safety training for field, shop, and office personnel.
  • Create and maintain documentation/records of EHS training, incident investigations, etc., in accordance with records retention policies and procedures.
  • Maintain safety statistics and key indicators and provide recommendations and reports to department and Company management.
  • Assist with procurement and maintenance of safety equipment as needed to ensure personnel have what is needed to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Develop EHS communication through publications, bulletins, flyers, posters, signs, banners, and other communication media.
  • Calibrate, inspect, and use EHS instrumentation and records data to ensure compliance with OSHA and company EHS policies.
  • Actively participate in the Company's Safety Committee meetings.
  • Teach OSHA 10, 30, First Aid, AED, and other classes.
