About The Position

Microtech Knives is seeking an experienced, hands-on EHS & Compliance Manager to lead safety, environmental, and regulatory compliance across our manufacturing operations. This is a high-impact leadership role for someone who thrives on building programs, owning compliance, and being the authority on OSHA, safety systems, and ISO readiness in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. You’ll work directly with executive leadership and operations teams to protect employees, reduce risk, and position Microtech as a world-class, audit-ready manufacturer.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 7-10+ years of hands-on EHS/compliance experience in manufacturing
  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA General Industry standards
  • Proven ownership of: OSHA programs HazCom & SDS systems Safety audits and investigations
  • Experience supporting or maintaining ISO management systems
  • Manufacturing floor experience (CNC, machining, grinding, blasting, coatings preferred)
  • Strong documentation, tracking, and reporting skills

Nice To Haves

  • CSP, ASP, CHMM, or OSHA 30-Hour certification
  • ISO Lead Auditor certification
  • Multi-site manufacturing experience
  • Experience responding to OSHA inspections or citations
  • Experience building safety programs from the ground up

Responsibilities

  • Lead OSHA compliance across all facilities (29 CFR 1910 – General Industry)
  • Build, implement, and enforce safety programs, policies, and procedures
  • Conduct Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), risk assessments, and safety audits
  • Own and oversee critical programs including: Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) Machine guarding PPE Electrical safety Walking-working surfaces Hazard Communication (HazCom)
  • Investigate incidents, near misses, and violations using root cause analysis
  • Maintain OSHA logs (300, 300A, 301)
  • Serve as the primary contact for OSHA inspections and inquiries
  • Own the HazCom program company-wide
  • Manage SDS systems, chemical inventories, and labeling standards
  • Establish safe handling, storage, and disposal procedures
  • Lead spill response and emergency planning
  • Coordinate hazardous waste disposal and environmental reporting
  • Ensure compliance with applicable EPA regulations (RCRA fundamentals)
  • Lead ISO-aligned management systems (ISO 9001, 14001, 45001 readiness)
  • Own document control, policy governance, and records management
  • Build and manage internal audit programs
  • Own CAPA processes and corrective action tracking
  • Maintain risk registers and compliance metrics
  • Lead management reviews and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Conduct internal compliance audits and gap analyses
  • Prepare facilities for external audits, certifications, and inspections
  • Track findings, corrective actions, and remediation timelines
  • Maintain regulatory calendars and compliance trackers
  • Ensure company-wide training compliance
  • Develop and deliver safety and compliance training for all employees
  • Create LMS-ready training materials
  • Train supervisors and managers on compliance accountability
  • Lead safety committees and improvement initiatives
  • Build a proactive, ownership-driven safety culture
  • Oversight of facilities in North Carolina and Pennsylvania
  • Travel includes audits, inspections, training, and incident response
  • Occasional short-notice travel may be required
