About The Position

Keystone Cement Company is seeking an Environmental, Health, & Safety Compliance Coordinator to assist the Environmental Compliance Manager with compliance with all environmental permits, regulatory requirements and special projects.

Requirements

  • Four-year degree in environmental science, chemistry, engineering or related field.
  • Minimum two years of experience in environmental, chemistry, engineering or a related field.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Demonstrated organizational and delegation abilities.
  • Able to successfully interact in a team environment as well as work independently.
  • Established basis in environmental compliance programs with the ability and interest to continue developing this knowledge.
  • Computer literacy in Microsoft Office products.
  • Physically able to inspect plant properties climbing steps, ladders, physical exertion, and wearing MSHA personal protective equipment required.
  • Respirator use, as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in manufacturing/heavy industrial setting with a background in solid waste and/or RCRA facility activities, is desired.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor, audit, and inspect the Cement Plant, Quarry, Resource Recovery Department and related facilities to ensure compliance with Federal and State environmental permits and regulations.
  • Review and maintain production, maintenance, and instrumentation documentation in an organized and accessible manner for multiple environmental programs providing guidance to facility personnel to address operating issues to ensure compliance.
  • Secure and maintain certification status to perform visible emissions evaluations.
  • Prepare cyclic environmental reports required by facility permits and regulations. In this effort, work with laboratory and plant personnel to ensure compliance with environmental permits
  • Accompany EPA/State personnel during agency inspections at facility and cultivate positive working relationships with the inspectors.
  • Independently complete or act as project lead for third-party contractors in plant activities to maintain on-going compliance, including environmental media and waste sampling, stack testing, field investigations, etc.
  • Assist in activities to maintain, monitor, audit and complete applications for Federal/State environmental permits or notifications. Additionally, provide support for responses to notices of violation and/or other information requests.
  • Review new regulations, State environmental registers and other newsworthy information for potential environmental impact on the plant.
  • Work with other Environmental Department staff and facility personnel in the implementation and on-going maintenance/improvement of the Environmental Management System (EMS).
  • Exhibit knowledge of and ensure compliance with all safety regulations. Independently identify and correct safety hazards. Participate in regular safety training, safety topic meetings and task training. Perform area inspections and accident investigations as required. Cooperate with all external inspectors (as necessary to support the Safety Department).
