About The Position

The EHS, Continuous Improvement (CI) & Production Planner plays a vital role in fostering a safe, efficient, and high-performing work environment. This position is responsible for leading environmental, health, and safety (EHS) initiatives, driving continuous improvement efforts, and developing effective production plans that meet customer demand while upholding quality and operational excellence. By integrating safety leadership, process optimization, and strategic scheduling, this role ensures smooth operations, maximizes efficiency, and supports consistent, on-time delivery. As a key contributor to operational success, this position directly impacts service levels, cost performance, and overall business growth.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Operations, Environmental Health & Safety, or related field (preferred)
  • 3–5+ years of experience in manufacturing, EHS, CI, or production planning
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety systems
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement tools
  • Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems and production scheduling

Responsibilities

  • Lead and promote a strong safety culture across all shifts and departments
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and local regulatory requirements
  • Develop, implement, and maintain safety policies, procedures, and training programs
  • Conduct safety audits, risk assessments, and Gemba walks
  • Investigate incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions; perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions
  • Maintain SDS compliance and hazard communication programs
  • Track and report safety KPIs (recordables, near misses, safety observations)
  • Coordinate emergency response plans, drills, and safety committees
  • Drive Lean Manufacturing initiatives (5S, Kaizen, Standard Work, Visual Management, Heijunka)
  • Identify process inefficiencies and lead improvement projects to increase productivity and reduce waste
  • Facilitate root cause analysis (5 Whys, Fishbone, A3 problem solving) for quality and operational issues
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to improve quality, delivery, and cost performance
  • Develop and maintain KPIs and dashboards to monitor performance
  • Lead training and coaching for supervisors and operators on CI tools and methodologies
  • Support cost reduction initiatives (scrap reduction, labor efficiency, process optimization)
  • Develop and manage daily and weekly production schedules based on demand, capacity, and material availability
  • Ensure on-time delivery performance (standard and rush orders)
  • Coordinate with Purchasing, Prepress, and Manufacturing to align supply and demand
  • Monitor WIP levels, inventory turns, and Kanban systems
  • Adjust schedules in real-time to address machine downtime, labor constraints, or priority changes
  • Analyze capacity and recommend improvements to meet forecasted demand
  • Support planning for peak periods and contingency planning
