ROLE PURPOSE The incumbent will support the Plant EHS Manager and interface with all levels of the plant organization providing technical safety and health support including day-to-day hands-on support for safety and health initiatives. This position requires the candidate to spend extensive amount of time (50%-70%) out in the plant.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in related field preferred.
  • Knowledge of OSHA/industry specific regulatory requirements/standards and official interpretations
  • Five year’s relevant experience in heavy manufacturing or construction environment Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Demonstrated competency in the technical and training skills required to fulfil the position’s responsibilities. Ability to effectively motivate people, to enlist needed cooperation in implementing effective safety programs.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work with personnel at all organizational levels.
  • Strong Computer Skills (database, word processing, spreadsheet, etc.) Ability to focus on details and understand the overall impact of events and decisions.
  • Ability to deal with regulatory agencies, consultants, and other contractor personnel

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, audit, and monitor equipment, work areas and work practices and procedures for compliance with established health and safety rules and regulations.
  • Assist in identifying, preventing, recommending control measures, and eliminating safety hazards.
  • Conduct new hire safety training.
  • Conduct compliance audits.
  • Safety work order tracking.
  • Conduct Near Miss follow ups and investigations.
  • Conduct Annual Fall Protection Inspection.
  • Be visible in the Plant.
  • Be a member of the Plant Safety Committee.
  • Deliver safety training to include Safe Start.
  • Update site safety signage.
  • Maintain monthly reports including key safety metrics.
  • Trend and analyze safety data and report findings and recommendations to Plant Management.
  • Assist with maintenance and update of safety procedures.
  • Enter safety data into the Benchmark/Gensuite system.
  • Assist with Contractor Safety Program.
  • Assist with new and modified processes/equipment/product development to ensure safety is included at all levels of design through implementation.
  • Participate in safety & industrial hygiene reviews, routine safety inspections and incident investigations, making appropriate recommendations.
