About The Position

The NextGen Template & Document Output Developer is a key associate supporting Hope Network’s transition to NextGen as the primary Electronic Health Record (EHR). This role leads the design, creation, configuration, and maintenance of NextGen templates, documents, print output, and related workflows. The position ensures that clinical, administrative, and billing teams have accurate, standardized, and efficient documentation tools. This individual also plays a central role in coaching staff, defining best practices, and guiding teams through template and output optimization critical to the success of the NextGen implementation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Minimum 3 years of healthcare IT/EHR experience, including template or form creation.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience with NextGen EHR template editor, document builder preferred.
  • Knowledge of clinical workflow design and documentation optimization.
  • Experience with structured electronic documentation and data mapping.
  • Understanding of HIPAA, HITECH, and documentation compliance requirements.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to translate technical concepts.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the organizational lead for all NextGen template, form, and document output creation.
  • Design, build, and maintain print templates and document outputs across all service lines.
  • Collaborate with clinical, operational, and billing leaders to gather requirements and convert them into template specifications.
  • Develop and manage standardized template governance, including version control and documentation.
  • Lead NextGen template configuration for PM, BH, and Therapy modules.
  • Establish and maintain output formatting standards ensuring consistency, readability, brand alignment, and compliance.
  • Provide training, mentorship, and skill development for staff involved in template development.
  • Create internal reference materials including build guides, data mapping documentation, and configuration standards.
  • Act as a key contributor during the NextGen implementation, ensuring readiness for go-live.
  • Conduct testing and validation of all templates, forms, and printed outputs.
  • Perform root-cause analysis and resolve template-related issues, escalating when necessary.
  • Support workflow optimization to reduce documentation burden and improve efficiency.
  • Monitor and optimize template performance to ensure stability and data accuracy.
  • Ensure all templates and output meet HIPAA, HITECH, and organizational compliance requirements.
  • Advise leadership on long-term template strategy and modernization opportunities.
  • Analyze clinical, behavioral health, and administrative workflows and translate them into efficient, compliant EHR processes.
  • Support system testing, validation, and troubleshooting of workflows.
  • Assist with ongoing system optimization, updates, and enhancement requests.
  • Maintain version‑controlled documentation of changes and updates.
  • Systematically evaluate the efficacy of documentation templates and strive for continuous improvement.
  • Survey stakeholders and subject matter experts to identify educational needs of users.
  • Maintain awareness of current best practices in adult education.
