About The Position

The EHS Technician/Specialist supports and advances the Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) management systems across multiple U.S.-based manufacturing sites. This role works closely with the Senior Manager – Environmental Health and Safety to ensure strong regulatory compliance, risk reduction, and continuous improvement. The position supports operations across multiple facilities and requires periodic travel as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Safety, or a related field required or the equivalent experience in a substantially similar role where you gain the knowledge and competencies needed to perform the essential functions of this role.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of EHS experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and state/local regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and apply safety and environmental regulations.
  • Strong organizational skills and proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; capable of working with all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated integrity and strong commitment to EHS and ISO compliance.
  • Ability to travel to multiple sites as required.

Responsibilities

  • Report directly to the Quality Manager and communicate all relevant matters related to EHS performance, risks, and ISO management systems.
  • Support EHS programs across designated U.S. manufacturing sites with regular on-site presence.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement by sharing best practices across the company’s facilities.
  • Implement, maintain, and manage all EHS documentation, policies, procedures, training modules, and permits.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable OSHA, EPA, state, and local EHS regulations and standards.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between site management and external safety agencies, including OSHA, emergency services, environmental officials, insurance auditors, and corporate EHS representatives.
  • Support the advancement of the company’s EHS Management System and drive ongoing ISO initiatives.
  • Ability to travel between Cleveland, OH (Lincoln Electric HQ) and 3 Michigan City, IN based Vanair facilities (40% travel)
  • Maintain and report EHS performance metrics to site leadership and corporate EHS.
  • Assist in the administration of EHS programs within the company’s corporate EHS database or software system.
  • Conduct internal audits and support external audits to maintain legal compliance and certification(s).
  • Experience in conducting or overseeing industrial hygiene sampling (noise, air quality, chemical exposure, dust, ventilation checks, etc.) preferred
  • Evaluate results and recommend engineering or administrative controls to reduce exposure.
  • Conduct EHS orientations for contractors and new employees.
  • Develop and deliver internal and external training programs covering safety, environmental, and ISO topics.
  • Maintain training records in accordance with OSHA and corporate requirements.
  • Coordinate and conduct regular facility inspections to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and corporate standards.
  • Participate in or support the site's Safety Committee, including meeting facilitation, hazard tracking, and follow-up activities.
  • Investigate workplace injuries, illnesses, near misses, equipment damage events, and other safety concerns.
  • Lead root cause analysis and assist in the implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Maintain accurate EHS incident records in accordance with OSHA recordkeeping requirements (e.g., 300 log).
  • Support emergency response planning, training, and drills (chemical spills, fire, medical, severe weather, etc.).
  • Be available for emergency communication outside regular working hours in alignment with company policy.
