About The Position

The Environmental, Health, and Safety Specialist is responsible for monitoring and maintaining environmental and safety management programs. The EH&S Specialist will be focused on daily, weekly, monthly, and annual activities essential to compliance and continuous improvement of EH&S performance.

Requirements

  • A.S. Degree in a technical field required, B.S. degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in an EH&S role within a manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated knowledge of EPA, OSHA, and DOT regulations
  • Must complete 24/40-hour HAZWOPER Training and be medically qualified to wear respiratory protection.
  • Ability to wear required PPE in manufacturing areas, including safety glasses, gloves (nitrile, canvas, etc), hearing protection, ANSI safety-toe footwear, and others as required.
  • Must have or complete other regulatory training including HAZWOPER 24 Hour Technician, DOT Hazmat, RCRA (Hazardous Waste), etc.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct Regular Inspections throughout the facility, focusing on areas such as: 1. Hazardous Waste Collection & Storage 2. Chemical Receiving & Storage Areas 3. Fire and Life Safety 4. Pollution Control Equipment and Emissions
  • Monitor and Assist with Facility Operations, including: 1. Emissions Control Equipment 2. EH&S Monitoring Equipment 3. Waste/Trim Removal Systems 4. Dock/Truck Restraints 5. Overhead Doors 6. Ladders & Stairs 7. Forklift & Material Lifts
  • Maintain EHS Equipment 1. Perform calibrations and ensure functionality of environmental and safety monitoring equipment, including LEL Monitors, Dosimeters, and Anemometers
  • Ensure Accurate Records: 1. Ensure compliance with all regulatory and recordkeeping requirements related to inspections and operations.
  • Develop and Deliver Training: 1. Provide safety/environmental training to groups of 10-50 people weekly, as directed by EH&S Management.
  • Assist with Accident/Injury Investigations: 1. Investigate incidents and assist with root cause analyses 2. Identify corrective actions and follow up on their implementation.
  • Monitor and Track Energy Consumption throughout the facility.
  • Identify Waste Reduction Opportunities: 1. Look for ways to minimize or reduce waste within the facility.
  • Manage ISO 14001 Documentation: 1. Create and update documents within the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System.
  • Strong Computer Skills Required: 1. Confidently use Word, Excel, and PowerPoint for daily tasks and reporting. 2. Work with cloud-based data tracking software regularly. 3. Use a tablet for inspections, filing reports, and taking notes. 4. Manage and track training assignments through our online training platform.
  • Work a Flexible Schedule: 1. Must be able to work flexible hours to support our 24/7 operation.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by Management.
