HII-Mission Technologies is currently seeking a qualified EH&S Manager to join our Environmental Health and Safety Department. This position will be part of a collaborative EH&S Team that provides Environmental Health and Safety direction, leadership, and guidance at all HII sites. The EH&S Manager is responsible to the Corporate EH&S Director for conducting surveillances, providing training to employees, and maintaining EH&S policies and procedures within the Pacific Northwest U.S. This position will be based out of our Bremerton, WA location with local travel.

Requirements

  • 4 years relevant progressive experience with Bachelors in related field; 2 years relevant progressive experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 8 years relevant progressive experience.
  • Experience using MS Office suite products for reporting and presentations (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint).
  • Working knowledge of OSHA and NAVSEA Standard Items, along with other safety-related state and federal agencies.
  • Demonstrated ability to recognize, evaluate, and recommend controls for workplace hazards on board ships and at shore-based facilities.
  • Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Organize and manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Must wear hearing, eye, and head protection and other PPE when required.
  • Ability to obtain a Secret government security clearance.

Aircraft Carrier Elevators and Door Maintenance, Shipyard Competent Person Training, Permit Authorizing Individual, Scaffolding Competent Person, PFAS Instructor, Damage Control/AFFF Systems Maintenance, DOT/RCRA Training, MEWP Training, Respiratory Protection Program Management, Analyzing Maritime Paint Samples for Heavy Metals.
  • Certified Asbestos Sampler.
  • Interacting with Regulatory Agencies such as OSHA and EPA.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve company’s Environmental, Health & Safety (EH&S) policies and procedures to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws.
  • Manage the creation and delivery of OSHA/NAVSEA SI training content to meet regulatory requirements.
  • Provide employees with the necessary training tailored to their job functions.
  • Analyze and solve safety issues or problem areas on board vessels and at shore-based facilities.
  • Meet with site supervisors/team leads to resolve safety issues.
  • Conduct incident investigations, including root cause analysis and injury prevention.
  • Perform workplace safety surveillances/inspections on board vessels and at shore-based facilities (commercial and military) and provide reports with corrective actions.
  • Assess worksites utilizing Industrial Hygiene monitoring equipment and reporting.
  • Respond to employee EH&S questions and concerns, providing guidance as needed, as well as in emergency situations during after-hours, for the purpose of resolving immediate, environmental, health, and/or safety concerns.
  • Create reports and presentations as needed.
  • Seek out opportunities for self-improvement through continuous education and training.
  • Occasional travel to HII sites in the Seattle-Bremerton area.
