About The Position

Gelest, Inc., part of the Mitsubishi Chemical Group, is hiring an EH&S Manager to join our team in Morrisville, PA. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to our mission of delivering innovative specialty chemical solutions to customers worldwide.” The EH&S Manager is responsible for the oversight of Environmental, Health and Safety program. This includes maintaining regulatory compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations and company policies. Responsibilities will also include creation, implementation, and improvements to existing and necessary employee Environmental, Health and Safety policies and programs. This position continuously drives excellence in core EH&S management systems and processes and facilitates integration into business operations for compliance, productivity, and growth.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Safety, Environmental Science, Occupational Safety and Health, or related field required.
  • 5+ years’ experience in Chemical industry and/or 8 + years of experience in the planning, development, and implementation of Environmental, Health and Safety systems and compliance programs preferred.
  • Must understand and recognize chemicals and risks of chemicals, PPE, and SDS.
  • Extensive knowledge of environmental regulations and policies.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient in technology and equipment used in environmental inspections.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
  • Must be able to investigate root cause analysis and work with team members to develop solutions.
  • Ability to be an active and certified member of the Emergency Response team.
  • Wear personal protective equipment as needed.
  • Pass respirator fit test as required by OSHA.
  • Must be able to hear/see and respond to all communications and alarms.
  • Must be able to distinguish colors accurately.
  • Must be able to work in hot and cold climates.
  • Lift up to 25lbs.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) candidate under section 5 preferred.
  • Process Safety Management (“PSM”) experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and manage all Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) policies, programs, procedures, and activities to ensure a safe, compliant, and healthy work environment for all employees.
  • Provide direct supervision and daily coordination of staff, including workload prioritization, performance oversight, coaching, and ensuring timely completion of assigned responsibilities.
  • Lead the site’s annual EHS Improvement Plan, monitoring progress, driving accountability, and ensuring alignment with corporate EHS objectives and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure consistent EHS presence and representation at key operational meetings to support effective communication, proactive risk identification, and timely issue resolution.
  • Establish, maintain, and continuously improve risk assessment, accident prevention, and incident management systems, including oversight of PPE assessments, LOTO verifications, JSAs, incident investigations, and Root Cause Analyses (RCAs).
  • Maintain centralized records for risk assessments, incident and near-miss reporting, corrective actions, and employee exposure monitoring in compliance with regulatory and corporate requirements.
  • Oversee incident investigations and corrective actions, ensuring thorough root cause identification, effective preventive measures, HIPAA compliance, and timely closure to prevent recurrence.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local environmental, health, and safety regulations, and serve as the primary site representative during regulatory inspections and interactions (OSHA, EPA, DEP, and other agencies).
  • Coordinate and standardize EHS procedures, documentation, and best practices across sites and functions, supporting RC14001 certification, Responsible Care, and other applicable industry standards.
  • Lead or serve as a key advisor to the Safety Committee, providing guidance on projects, investigations, audits, and operational initiatives.
  • Prepare and analyze EHS performance metrics, trends, and reports for site leadership, Safety Committees, and corporate stakeholders using statistical and analytical tools.
  • Provide technical guidance and subject matter expertise to managers, supervisors, and employees to ensure EHS programs are effectively implemented, sustained, and globally applicable.
  • Take a leadership role in managing complex or sensitive EHS situations, partnering with leaders across all departments to implement practical, risk-based preventive solutions.
  • Support and close corrective actions resulting from internal, corporate, and external audits, ensuring timely resolution and sustained compliance.
  • Coordinate with other facilities and corporate EHS teams to align on standards, share best practices, and drive consistency across the organization.
  • Support site and corporate certification requirements, including Responsible Care and other applicable EHS management systems.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
