The person in this role will lead our EH&S function and manage the program for the site.

Requirements

  • Advanced degree and 5+ years of experience in Environmental, Health, Safety, Ergonomics, Risk, Human Resources, Operations, Industrial Engineering or EH&S Consulting field; OR Bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of relevant industry experience; OR Associate’s degree and 10+ years of relevant industry experience.
  • Overall knowledge of EH&S, Safety and Ergonomics standards, regulations and best-practices.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Health and Safety, Environmental Sciences, Industrial Engineering, Kinesiology, or EH&S degree
  • Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM), Safety Professional (CSP), or Industrial Hygienist (CIH) and DOT training
  • Experience in manufacturing environment, with a focus on risk assessment and reduction
  • Technical knowledge of manufacturing processes, with specific knowledge in developing machine guarding and other protective barriers
  • Experience championing Health & Safety programs, including local culture and compliance
  • Experience conducting internal audits and supporting external audit process
  • Experience using LEAN and continuous improvement tools (CORE/ACE/SixSigma, QCPC and RCCA) ideally to improving EH&S recordables, metrics, and culture
  • Ability to communicate at all levels of the organization including senior level management.

Responsibilities

  • Drive the culture of the Environmental, Health, and Safety program across the Site.
  • Support implementation of the RTX and Pratt & Whitney EH&S Management system
  • Organize and maintain assigned EH&S policies and procedures to achieve and maintain compliance with all corporate, state, and federal regulations.
  • Partner with all disciplines across the site to ensure EH&S compliance.
  • Lead the site EH&S Council
  • Oversight for all applicable federal, state, and local regulations as well as company policies and procedures (Applicable safety programs include LOTO, electrical safety, machine guarding, elevated work, confined space, industrial hygiene, risk assessment, blood borne pathogens, powered industrial vehicles, respirator protection and hearing conservation)
  • Manage a robust environmental program which may include wastewater permitting, RCRA waste management, potential site air permit, storm water no exposure certification, x-ray registrations
  • Coordinate the Workers’ Compensation process, first aid and injury reporting
  • Lead and drive efforts to continuously improve EH&S performance and operations, including improvement programs and corrective actions, environmental protection projects, sustainability and pollution prevention, and integration of EH&S initiatives into overall business operations across the site.
  • Interface with government agencies to maintain regulatory compliance (audits, annual reports, permit applications, etc.)
  • Work with the site to implement EH&S training requirements.
  • Conduct safety inspections and analyzes audit findings to develop corrective actions and achieve and maintain safe work practices.
  • Participate in cross functional teams to ensure building safety and security
  • Implements new or modified plans in response to delays, bad weather, or site emergencies
  • Manage a team of both direct reports and contractors
