About The Position

The EH&S Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and sustaining a proactive safety and environmental program across multiple small to mid-size manufacturing sites. Because most locations do not have dedicated on-site safety personnel, this role serves as the primary EH&S expert for the organization—providing hands-on support, coaching, and guidance to site leaders on all aspects of employee safety, regulatory compliance, and risk mitigation. Reporting to the Vice President of Operations, the role partners directly with General Managers, Operations Leaders, and corporate leadership to build a strong safety culture, reduce risk, and ensure consistent practices across all sites.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in EH&S roles within a manufacturing environment; multi-site experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of OSHA/EPA regulations and industry best practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and lead without authority, especially within small to mid-size site environments.
  • Excellent communication, training, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to travel regularly to manufacturing sites (up to 30%)
  • Hands-on, practical approach to safety—comfortable working on the shop floor and with frontline employees.
  • Strong problem-solving and root-cause analysis capabilities.
  • Skilled at working independently while balancing diverse stakeholder needs.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities across sites.
  • Motivated to build a strong, sustainable safety culture from the ground up.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain EH&S policies, standards, and procedures across all manufacturing locations.
  • Build and drive a cohesive safety program that can be executed by site leaders with limited EH&S resources.
  • Conduct regular site assessments, audits, and walkthroughs to identify hazards and recommend corrective actions.
  • Review incident investigations (near misses, injuries, property damage, environmental events) and ensure timely root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Serve as the primary EH&S advisor for manufacturing sites with no on-site safety professionals.
  • Train supervisors and managers in safety procedures, compliance requirements, and risk-reduction practices.
  • Coach site leaders on developing a culture of accountability, hazard recognition, and safe work behaviors.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Maintain required records, documentation, and reporting for environmental and safety compliance.
  • Develop and manage programs such as hazard communication, lockout/tagout, PPE, machine guarding, waste management, and emergency preparedness.
  • Identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities across the network of sites.
  • Develop practical tools, templates, and processes that simplify EH&S execution for sites.
  • Support implementation of engineering and administrative controls to eliminate or reduce hazards.
  • Track key safety metrics and report results to leadership.
  • Develop and deliver EH&S training (in-person and virtual) for employees and leaders. Leverage external resources when appropriate.
  • Create communication materials that reinforce expectations, improve awareness, and promote safe behaviors.
  • Facilitate safety meetings, toolbox talks, and leadership training sessions.
  • Demonstrates commitment to FATHOM’s Core Values by leading, acting and behaving in a manner consistent with these values.

  • Additional Benefits: Paid time off, Floating Holidays, Volunteer time off, and sick time off (depending on state of employment). 401k Plan
