About The Position

The Construction Safety Coordinator is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing safety policies and procedures on construction sites to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This role involves conducting safety inspections, training personnel, and promoting a culture of safety to minimize accidents, injuries, and health risks.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and construction safety standards.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Bilingual Preferred
  • Ability to conduct thorough investigations and prepare detailed reports.
  • Proficiency in using safety management software and tools.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Must have an acceptable driving record.
  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred however not required.
  • Experience: Minimum of 1 years of experience in construction safety, with a proven track record of managing safety programs and conducting safety inspections.
  • Certifications: OSHA Certification (30-hour or 10-hour) required; additional certifications such as CSP (Certified Safety Professional) or CHST (Construction Health and Safety Technician) preferred.
  • Ability to work in various environmental conditions, including exposure to outdoor elements and construction site hazards.
  • Ability to lift and carry materials and equipment up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to walk, stand, and climb for extended periods.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain safety programs and procedures tailored to construction project needs, ensuring compliance with OSHA, environmental, and company standards.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify hazards, document findings, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Coordinate and deliver safety training, toolbox talks, and ongoing education to promote hazard awareness and proper use of PPE.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses; complete reports, root-cause analyses, and corrective measures.
  • Monitor regulatory changes and update policies and procedures to maintain compliance with evolving standards.
  • Promote a proactive safety culture by engaging employees and leadership in continuous safety improvement efforts.
  • Support emergency preparedness planning, conduct drills, and ensure employees are trained to respond effectively.
  • Manage and monitor safety equipment and PPE inventory, ensuring regular inspections and replacements as needed.
  • Maintain organized documentation of safety activities, training, inspections, and compliance records.
  • Collaborate with project managers, field leaders, and other stakeholders to integrate safety into daily operations and project planning.
