Summary Description: Work closely with PlantManager and Human Resources in the following: incident reporting; OSHA recordkeeping; worker’s compensation reporting, tracking and documenting; implementation and/or monitoring all safety logs and/or reports, to include, but not limited to OSHA Reporting Logs (300), injury reporting logs, safety reporting logs, job descriptions database, MSDS logs, etc. Update and comply with all environmental certifications and titles. Essential Functions: Conduct continuous review, proposal and implementation to changes in either policy and/or procedures with regard to the safety, health and welfare of employees including all Hazmat and environmental issues Identify current issues of concern with regard to health, safety and environmental issues and oversee corrective actions Audit all new and/or revised workstations to ensure all safety and compliance requirements have been met Ensure compliance of all safety procedures by both salaried and hourly employees Ensure compliance of all environmental and waste issues for both State and Federal requirements Direct and coordinate all Safety Committee functions Assess new developments in the health and safety field that may have application to the company's operations and keep appraised of developments in federal and state safety laws likely to affect the company Recognize trends in both recordable and un-recordable incidents and take appropriate action to ensure trending is in the right direction Ensure all required safety inspections are completed in compliance with all OSHA regulations Work with supervisors to ensure continued compliance of all personnel safety-training requirements and/or perform safety training as required Oversee all safety and/or environmental audits Develop, implement, stock and track the usage of special purpose “personal protective equipment” as required Coordinate all Safety Incident activity including: respond to all safety incidents; work with supervision to ensure a complete and thorough incident report has been completed; ensure root cause has been thoroughly evaluated; work with supervision to develop proper corrective actions; ensure that all corrective actions are complied with in a timely manner Perform necessary disciplinary action to ensure compliance of safety issues Work with Maintenance Leader to implement Lock Out Tag Out procedures for all new machinery and make sure employees are trained on the procedures Work with Maintenance Leader to ensure all new machinery has proper safety guarding and employees are trained on safe operation of the new machinery. Work with the First Responders to ensure training is updated to requirements, and that First Responder secondary assignments are being performed (eyewash stations and first aid cabinets maintained, as examples) Perform Safety onboarding of new hires Be on call for any injuries that happen on the clean-up crew that would require him to report back to work to address. Perform any and all other job related tasks as assigned
