About The Position

At Raytheon, the foundation of everything we do is rooted in our values and a higher calling – to help our nation and allies defend freedoms and deter aggression. We bring the strength of more than 100 years of experience and renowned engineering expertise to meet the needs of today’s mission and stay ahead of tomorrow’s threat. Our team solves tough, meaningful problems that create a safer, more secure world. Raytheon's Effector Power (EP) Team is looking for junior engineers who have basic power electronics knowledge to help design robust power systems. The Effector Power Department is responsible for the development, from concept to integration, of Telemetry and Flight Termination products; power systems from all up round to the lowest level power regulation; servo electronics supporting all mechanical motion in our products and low noise mixed signal electronics that provides the analog to digital interface to our front-end sensors. Each of these products generally operate in lower power and voltage ranges less than 10kW and 1000V.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) major.
  • Design, analysis, test, and/or simulation experience with one or more of the following non-isolated converter topologies: buck, boost, buck-boost.
  • Beginner level experience using tools such as MATLAB, MathCAD, Mathematica, or other similar tools.
  • This position requires 12 months or less of relevant professional work experience (excluding internships).
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Design and analysis experience with analog or digital power converter design.
  • Experience guiding Electronic Computer-Aided Design (ECAD) personnel through PWB layout of power circuitry and technical drawing creation.
  • Experience with design considerations for voltages > 400V and/or power > 10kW.
  • Three-phase power systems, power factor control, and inverter/rectifier development
  • Experience with Circuit simulator SIMPLIS, system simulator SABER, and/or analysis tool Mathcad.
  • Mentor Graphics DxDesigner, and/or Hyperlynx.

Responsibilities

  • Design, analyze, simulate, test, and document power conversion (and related analog) circuitry. This circuitry will dominantly involve non-isolated and isolated switch mode power converters and linear converters. Main emphasis is on board-mounted power end use applications.
  • Help to see circuit card development through its design phases, from requirements definition through initial integration testing.
  • Guide ECAD drafters through layout and routing activities, with moderate support from senior engineers. Assist in layer stackup definition.
