About The Position

The Expanded Functions Dental Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting dental procedures and ensuring patient care. This position involves assisting doctors with various tasks, including charting, placement of fillings, operatory set/clean up, and patient education. The assistant is expected to perform expanded duties in compliance with state regulations, which may include placing amalgam fillings, adapting temporary crowns, removing surgical sutures, and applying topical fluoride treatments. The assistant will also be responsible for recording and reviewing patient health histories and chart entries under the doctor's direction, ensuring all forms and signatures are completed in the dental software. Additionally, the assistant will help manage medical and dental emergencies and provide postoperative instructions as prescribed by the dentist. Maintaining cleanliness in and outside the dental practice is also a key responsibility.

Requirements

  • Certification as an Expanded Functions Dental Assistant.
  • Knowledge of state regulations regarding dental assisting.
  • Experience in dental procedures and patient care.
