About The Position

The Department operates two service locations, one on the Waukesha Memorial Hospital Campus and one at the Outpatient Physician's Center in Oconomowoc. These two locations combine to complete 400 to 500 outpatient visits monthly. Specialty services include medical pain management, pain psychology, stroke follow up clinic, Multiple Sclerosis clinic, and concussion/brain injury clinic. The department has 2 physiatrists, 2 psychologists, 2 advanced practice nurse prescribers, 5 registered nurses and 4 clerical staff. In addition, neurosurgeons, neurologists and other medical specialists see patients within the clinics. Schedule Details: Day shift with every other weekend on call (8am to Noon) and holiday call (8-4:30pm).

Requirements

  • High school Diploma, or equivalent.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association, or ability to obtain upon hire.
  • Registered Polysomnography Technologist or Registered Electrodiagnostic Technician within one year of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Specialist expertise in neurodiagnostics preferred though not required.

Responsibilities

  • Performs and maintains competency in electroencephalograms, both portable inpatient EEG's and outpatient EEG's in the Neuroscience Center Clinic.
  • Applies electrodes on predetermined positions on the patient's head, checks the performance of the electrodes, calibrates and adjusts the testing equipment.
  • Selects both predetermined and special electrode combinations dependent on the individual case under study.
  • Prepares patient for exam and performs exams and procedures.
  • Gathers a comprehensive patient history, appropriate information from patient, patient's records and family members to include neurological symptomatology and medications.
  • Explains test procedures to patient and family members.
  • Performs procedures according to the laboratory standards and implements alternative methods and/or adjusts controls to obtain optimal recordings.
  • Recognizes patient or environmental artifact and documents, eliminates or takes proper measure to monitor the artifact.
  • Troubleshoots equipment problems and repairs or reports to supervisor immediately.
  • Ability to learn EPIC charting system.
  • Performs various patient positioning and transporting duties, which require lifting and pushing/pulling, while utilizing proper technique.
