Must have Electroencephalogram (EEG) experience. Performs and assists with multi-modality neurodiagnostic testing. Exam performance/quality. Identifies each patient by ID band verification and birth date. Educates patient on procedure and confirms understanding PRIOR to beginning the procedure. Gather pertinent medical history to aid neurologist in the interpretation of data gathered during testing. Follows appropriate guidelines and department protocols. Performs exams as priority dictates and as directed. Performs and records electroencephalography (EEG) exams. Assists neurologists in the completion and recording of electromyography (EMG) exams. Critiques each exam for technical and positional accuracy and makes appropriate corrections if necessary. Log each patient on log sheet and bill appropriately in Cerner following the procedure. 2. Workflow management. Reviews orders for clinical and demographic consistency and verifies accuracy prior to exam. Willfully assists physicians, patients, and coworkers as needed and seeks opportunities to provide patient care. Understand and support the direction and workflow of the department. Maintain awareness of ongoing exams and assist co-workers as needed. Provide exam information and status updates to pertinent staff members. Flexes workload to meet patient care needs; arranges schedules to prioritize patients and testing. Be in the department and ready to work at the start of scheduled shift. Have processes set in place to allow for leaving at the end of scheduled shift. Consolidate all reports and history with completed exam information for review. Assists neurologists in the timely reporting of test results by proofreading and correcting errors prior to physician review. Takes appropriate actions to communicate with physicians and expedite test result reporting. 3. Systems/Cerner Maintain a working knowledge of Cerner. Starts and completes own exams correctly and in a timely manner. Consistently uses the Online Worklist to monitor orders and order status. Utilize processes that facilitate charge capture and charge reconciliation of the procedure charges and professional fees. 4. Department Policy/Procedures Ensures proper patient identification on all exams to comply with department policies and procedures. Maintains patient confidentiality coinciding with HIPAA. Demonstrates knowledge of department guidelines through responsible behavior/actions. Maintains updated ABRETT license. Report issues/concerns as soon as possible and provide assistance with resolution/follow-up. 5. Coordinates and performs EEG and EMG procedures according to the department policy and procedures approved by the American Clinical Neurophysiology Society (ACNS) guidelines and standards for EEG collection. Follows the correct down time guidelines for patient demographic information in order to pass the information to medical records. Works closely with IT when the work list is not working. IT feedback and notification of manual scanning of finalized results for medical records. 6. Collaborates in maintaining proper inventory and works with IT and Bio-Med when equipment or system goes down. Keeps manager informed of maintenance issues and IT system issues. Feedback from IT. Feedback from Bio-Med on EEG and EMG equipment issues. 7. Collaborates in the maintenance of proper inventory. Works with Bio-med for all first respond maintenance for EEG and EMG equipment needs. Shares the responsibility of monitoring, ordering, and stocking supplies for the department. 8. Demonstrates ability to access environment of care policies on computer. Can speak to code red. How to rescue patients and evacuate the department. Can speak to code triage. What is responsibility with a code triage? Is knowledgeable of the hazardous materials in the area and can identify the chemical diamond. Demonstrates competency in accessing all hospital policies. 9. Training and developing new staff members. Orients Neurodiagnostic Techs and/or other assigned staff to the equipment used by Methodist for EEG and EMG exams. Responsible for accurate completion and documentation of all procedures performed with new staff.
