About The Position

This role focuses on providing medical and clinical support services to patients. In addition, this role focuses on performing the following Neurology related duties: Monitors the functional integrity of certain neural structures (e.g., nerves, spinal cord and parts of the brain) by performing diagnostic testing. An organizational related support or service (administrative or clerical) role or a role that focuses on support of daily business activities (e.g., technical, clinical, non-clinical) operating in a “hands on” environment. The majority of time is spent in the delivery of support services or activities, typically under supervision. An entry level role that typically requires little to no prior knowledge or experience, work is routine or follows standard procedures, work is closely supervised, and communicates information that requires little explanation or interpretation. This position obtains standard and special procedure EEG recordings including Evoked Potential recordings.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and communicate effectively.
  • Excellent typing skills, proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet and database software programs.
  • Good communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • One (1) year of experience as an EEG Technologist.

Responsibilities

  • Makes the appropriate calibration procedures of the EEG apparatus for special and standard recordings.
  • Adapts procedures to particular circumstances by adding electrodes in non-standard locations to devise the appropriate recording techniques.
  • Assists medical staff during special procedures by providing extra monitoring and extra electrode application.
  • Participates in research by collecting data such as case history, whether patient is left or right-handed, etc.
  • Gives direct technical descriptions of EEG changes to surgeons as they occur during monitoring.
  • Inspects and ensures proper maintenance of EEG and related equipment.
