About The Position

The EEG Tech operates an electroencephalograph to measure impulse frequencies and differences in electrical potential between various areas of the brain to obtain data for use in diagnosis for brain disorders. The EEG Technician studies wave characteristics during tests to detect evidence of brain disorders and may mark graphs accordingly for study by a physician or neurologist. This position relies on established guidelines to accomplish tasks and works under close supervision.

  • BLS certification required

Responsibilities

  • Operates an electroencephalograph to measure brain activity.
  • Studies wave characteristics during tests to detect brain disorders.
  • Marks graphs for physician or neurologist review.
  • Applies electrodes to predetermined positions on the patient's head.
  • Checks electrode performance and corrects artifacts.
  • Selects appropriate voltage for localizing abnormalities.
  • Cleans electrodes and patient's scalp before tests.
  • Monitors patient's condition during studies.
  • Prepares patients by explaining procedures and ensuring cooperation.
  • Abstracts relevant information from patient's clinical record.
  • Calibrates and adjusts neurodiagnostic apparatus according to standard procedures.
  • Performs standard Electroneurodiagnostic procedures as ordered by physicians.
