About The Position

The position is for a Neurodiagnostic Technologist at Carolinas Medical Center, which is part of Advocate Health. This full-time role involves performing routine and complex electroencephalogram (EEG) procedures, nerve conduction studies (NCV), and evoked potential (EP) tests, among others, depending on the specialty area training. The technologist will work rotating 3–12-hour night shifts from 7 PM to 7 AM, with weekend, holiday, and call rotation included. The position is eligible for a sign-on bonus based on eligibility. The pay range for this position is $24.85 - $39.15 per hour.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Graduate from an accredited Neurodiagnostic program with 3 years of experience preferred.
  • BLS certification required.
  • EEG registry or eligibility for EEG registry preferred.
  • Board eligibility for ABRET certification in EEG required within 2 years of hire.
  • Completion of ongoing departmental requirements for EEG board registry preparation required within 3 years of hire.
  • Ability to work independently with strong organizational skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with experience in conflict resolution.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Working knowledge of Good Clinical Practices (GCPs) and Guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and complex EEG procedures, NCV, and EP tests.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of equipment operator's manual and calibration procedures.
  • Identify and correct basic equipment issues.
  • Perform Neurodiagnostic procedures using appropriate test strategy and calibration.
  • Obtain relevant information from patient's medical records and transfer it to the technologist's report.
  • Adopt methods and instrumentation to obtain optimal results based on medical history and clinical observations.
  • Adhere to standards of practice for test recordings as outlined by ABRET.
  • Maintain complete and accurate record keeping, including history forms and archived records.
  • Assist with technical operation of specialized Neurodiagnostic procedures including long-term monitoring and intraoperative neuromonitoring.
  • Verbalize and implement appropriate actions during patient medical emergencies.
  • Demonstrate proper infection control practices.
  • Ensure hazardous materials are properly used and stored.
  • Provide preceptor supervision to new technologists and student interns.
  • Participate in ordering and maintaining supplies for the department.
