In this role, the successful candidate is responsible for routine EEG, simple studies and the associated administrative paperwork. Under close supervision of a physician or a more senior technologist may perform critical or complex studies for immediate diagnosis as needed.

Requirements

  • High School Required.
  • Current and valid BLS or CPR Certification is required.
  • ABRET EEG certification within 5 years of hire for all hires on or after 1/1/16.
  • 1 year performing EEG studies OR completion of an accredited or formalized program OR Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Strong communication skills are required.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's Degree Preferred.
  • Completion of an accredited program as defined by ASET (The Neurodiagnostic Society) Preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs routine EEG studies.
  • Adheres to laboratory guidelines for impedance testing and montage selection.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Cleans electrodes and maintains equipment.
  • Participates in conferences related to EEG in the department.
  • Reviews studies performed with supervising physician on a regular basis.
  • Completes appropriate paperwork for each patient including those required for department statistical and billing purposes.
  • Ensure reports are accurate and prepared timely for the physician to review.
  • Collects information on the patient's history, current medications, and a description of current seizures for the technical report.
