About The Position

This recruitment will be used to hire a number of part-time (a maximum of 10 hours per week for undergraduate students) Student Learning Assistant positions for the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS) at Oregon State University (OSU). This position performs a wide variety of work that supports the quality of education in the Department at the university. There may also be a potential need for assistance with special topics courses as well.

Requirements

• Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study
• Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment
• Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard
• High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program
• Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term
• Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term
• Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term
• Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term
• Active student at OSU
• Must successfully complete a Criminal History Check

Nice To Haves

• Completion of assigned course with at least a B is required to be an Undergraduate Teaching Assistant for that specific course which assigned to.

Responsibilities

• Mentoring students
• Assisting with office hours/posting on discussion boards
• Assisting with grading based on a rubric
• Attending weekly TA meetings
• Helping with labs and/or recitations under guidance of the GTA or course instructor
