The Maryland State Department of Education is dedicated to supporting a world-class educational system that prepares all students for college and career success in the 21st century. With excellent stewardship from our divisions, we oversee State and federal programs that support the needs of a diverse population – students, teachers, principals, and other educators throughout Maryland. The primary purpose of this position is to support the effective administration and oversight of grant programs focused on strengthening the educator pipeline. The Division of Educator Effectiveness manages a portfolio of grants that provide critical funding to local education agencies, institutions of higher education, nonprofit organizations, and unions to advance the recruitment, preparation, development, and retention of high-quality educators. The Grant Assistant plays a key operational role in ensuring the successful implementation of these initiatives. This includes supporting all phases of grant management within the Educator Preparation and Development Branch, such as assisting with application review processes, maintaining accurate and organized grant documentation, tracking deliverables and timelines, and supporting compliance with state and federal requirements. The position is also responsible for assisting with the processing and monitoring of grant funds, helping to ensure timely reimbursements and proper fiscal accountability.
