PURPOSE Under the general supervision of the Director of Digital Learning & Academic Innovations (DLAI), the Educational Technologist will oversee educational technology solutions adopted by the university for the delivery of digital teaching and learning. Additionally, the Educational Technologist will actively research emerging technologies, innovative digital learning solutions, and strategic opportunities aimed at advancing teaching and learning initiatives. The Educational Technologist will oversee educational technology solutions adopted by the University for the delivery of digital teaching and learning. The Educational Technologist will help the university track college-wide usage of educational technology platforms, evaluate and monitor their effectiveness for supporting faculty and student success. The Educational Technologist will work with internal and external stakeholders to ensure faculty receive appropriate training on how to effectively implement educational technology to support teaching and learning in digital courses. The Educational Technologist will also work with the Instructional Design team to promote the adoption and effective use of available educational technology infrastructure for the delivery of digital teaching and learning. DESCRIPTION Educational Technology Adoption (25%) Promote and support adoption of available educational technology infrastructure for the delivery of instruction. Responsible for researching and evaluating the effectiveness of innovative technology for instructional purposes. Serve as a liaison to connect institutional stakeholders and faculty to external training support materials and representatives for the effective implementation of educational technology platforms for digital teaching and learning. Support and promote the adoption of technology for developing course materials that comply with accessibility guidelines and universal design of learning principles (captioning, Ally, WCAG). Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to evaluate the effectiveness of educational technology and provide recommendations for continued use in digital teaching and learning. Keep students informed about existing and newly adopted educational technology platforms to promote student readiness and success. Manage relationships with customer success managers of educational technology partners to ensure institutional stakeholders are utilizing available training and technical resources to support adoption of educational technology. Educational Technology Evaluation (25%) Collaborate with internal stakeholders to track how well educational technology platforms are meeting institutional needs, and address technical bugs that may be preventing effective and efficient implementation of educational technology to inform evaluation and continued renewal of contracts. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to maintain databases and/or dashboards for instructional technology usage, permissions, licenses, and contracts. Faculty Training, Consultations & Educational Technology Support (25%) Responsible for the creation and curation of instructional technology resources and training for learning management systems, proctoring, video conferencing, survey management, academic integrity. Design and create learning objects, resources, and tutorials in various formats including print, graphics, audio, video, and animation technologies to support faculty professional development and training initiatives. Design, develop and lead training related to the effective implementation of educational technology platforms for the delivery of digital teaching and learning. Develop and maintain a yearly training schedule for faculty. Develop a communication plan for increasing faculty awareness of Educational Technology infrastructure and resources available for digital teaching and learning. Effective Implementation of Educational Technology for Digital Instruction (25%) Leads the Instructional Design team in delineating technical support responsibilities and providing appropriate referrals to educational technology partners when appropriate to ensure faculty have robust educational technology training and support. Research, review and recommend innovative technologies and multimedia applications to support faculty in optimizing digital teaching and learning experiences. Provides training and guidance on promoting the effective integration of technology for enhancing digital teaching and learning. Leads the evaluation of educational technology platforms in meeting faculty and student needs in digital courses and programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in applicable field.
  • Three (3) years of related experience in integration of current and emerging technologies (i.e., streaming media, multimedia, course management systems, communication tools, etc.) in an academic environment.
  • Additional education/experience may be considered as substitution for the minimum experience/education requirement:
  • Associate’s degree and Five (5) years of related experience in integration of current and emerging technologies (i.e., streaming media, multimedia, course management systems, communication tools, etc.) in an academic environment.
  • Master's degree in applicable field and One (1) year of related experience in integration of current and emerging technologies (i.e., streaming media, multimedia, course management systems, communication tools, etc.) in an academic environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Instructional Technology or related field
  • Knowledge of innovative academic technology platforms used for digital teaching and learning.
  • Ability to monitor academic technology updates and technical issues to ensure a robust faculty and student user experience for digital instruction.
