About The Position

About the Role We are seeking a Family Child Care Specialist to join our Early Head Start team. This unique program combines Early Head Start and Family Child Care services to provide full-day, home-based childcare and family support for low-income families with children under age four. As a Family Child Care Specialist, you will play a key role in supporting and coaching Family Child Care Providers to deliver high-quality, developmentally appropriate care for infants and toddlers.

Requirements

  • BA in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field.
  • At least 1 year of classroom experience and/or curriculum development for infants and toddlers.
  • Strong knowledge of child development (birth to age 3), excellent communication and writing skills.

  • Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement curriculum for home-based Family Child Care programs.
  • Coach providers on lesson planning, addressing mixed-age groups, special needs, and behavior management.
  • Conduct enhanced home visits to Family Child Care Providers serving Early Head Start children.
  • Provide on-site training on child development, curriculum planning, daily routines, and space design.
  • Support providers in completing developmental assessments and maintaining child observations in My Teaching Strategies.
  • Assist with family recruitment and parent workshops.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of visits and child development activities.
  • Offer technical support to childcare providers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by your supervisor.
