About The Position

The Educational Programs Manager supports ISA in its mission by providing management expertise in the development and maintenance of ISA’s educational products and programs. The role requires strong project management skills, experience in educational programming or delivery, and preferably a background in arboriculture and urban forestry or other green industry experience. The Educational Programs Manager is responsible for ensuring the success of ISA’s online and in-person learning programs, including but not limited to the following: training curricula and programs, online learning modules, webinars, in person workshops/seminars, videos, CEU quizzes, learning assessment tests, etc. The Educational Programs Manager supervises a small team of staff and recruits and works closely with vendors to develop and maintain ISA’s educational programming.

Requirements

  • Understands ISA’s mission and adheres to organizational and staff core values.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Prior experience designing, developing, or implementing educational or workforce development programs such as training curricula, eLearning, podcasts, workshops, and/or other multimedia programs in an academic or non-profit environment.
  • Proven project management experience, preferably with the development of educational programs and learning products.
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 80% of the time.
  • Moves about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • Regularly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery such as calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
  • Frequently communicates with internal and external customers.
  • This position requires occasional lifting, under 25 lbs.
  • Working conditions are normal for an office environment.
  • Noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
  • Occasional weekend and/or evening work may be required.

Nice To Haves

  • Functional knowledge and experience with design and management of eLearning programs is a plus.
  • Experience working with an international audience is a plus.
  • Knowledge of and experience in the arboriculture or urban forestry profession is a plus
  • Applicants with extensive background in arboriculture and urban forestry and a willingness to train up in learning program development are encouraged to apply

Responsibilities

  • Develops relationships to strengthen ISA’s worldwide network of researchers, educators, and practitioners.
  • Provides exceptional project management skills including effective communication, strong organizational abilities, project leadership, creative problem solving, adaptability, and risk management.
  • Maintains clear timelines and annual budgets related to all phases of project development and program implementation.
  • Effectively recruits, deploys, and manages staff, subject matter expert volunteers, and vendors.
  • Serves as liaison to committees that support and provide feedback on ISA’s educational products and programs.
  • Oversees staff support of ISA’s institutional partnerships and grant-funded programs related to research, education, and workforce development in arboriculture and urban forestry.
  • Organizes and manages electronic files and archives.
  • Establishes and manages policies and processes to ensure consistency and efficiency in the development and maintenance of learning products and programs.
  • Coordinates with marketing, credentialing, and customer service teams to promote and support products and programs
  • Conducts need assessments to identify training requirements relevant to ISA’s members and credential holders.
  • Oversees the design and development of engaging and effective eLearning courses, in-person training, webinars, workshops, and other ISA programs from beginning to end.
  • Ensures consistency in the design and implementation of the ISA learning experience.
  • Finds opportunities to amplify ISA’s product catalog by updating outdated learning products and repurposing content to new mediums or delivery mechanisms.
  • Manages the sourcing, review, and curation of new content that can be used in various ISA learning products.
  • Oversees successful implementation of ISA’s educational programs to high quality standards.
  • Manages the curriculum and instructor program for ISA’s Tree Risk Assessment Qualification to ensure seamless program execution.
  • Ensures curriculum is kept current through continual feedback loop with subject matter experts and ISA Approved Instructors.
  • Oversees ISA Approved Instructor onboarding, support, and continuing education program.
  • Works closely with the ISA Credentialing Department on process and policy improvements.
  • Implements evaluation strategies to assess the effectiveness of ISA’s educational programming.
  • Assesses program data to identify areas for improvement and refine programs to better meet the needs of ISA’s members and credential holders.
  • Protects and fortifies ISA’s scientific, peer-review standards.
  • Stays current with technologies and best practices in talent development and adult learning and keeps abreast of trends in the arboriculture and urban forestry professions.
  • Other duties as assigned.
