About The Position

The Paraeducator assists and participates in teaching, protecting, and providing care for elementary school-aged children. This role involves carrying out lesson plans and other curriculum provided by the classroom teacher, as well as participating in planning lessons, staff meetings, and professional development activities.

Requirements

• ParaPro Certificate or Associate's Degree preferred.
• Prompt, reliable, and dependable candidate with good oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist classroom teacher in implementation of age/developmentally appropriate lesson plans.
• Maintain an orderly, clean, and welcoming classroom for children and parents.
• Present any notes, communication, or messages to the classroom teacher immediately upon receiving them from parents or other adults.
• Interact positively with children at all times and maintain visual supervision of them.
• Observe individual children daily and maintain up-to-date information in assigned portfolios, providing input to the classroom teacher for conferences.
• Maintain appropriate documentation for each child as directed by the classroom teacher, including accident/incident reports, sick reports, and daily notes.
• Assist in keeping community areas of the building neat and clean, including playground areas, bathrooms, snack areas, common areas, refrigerators, and supply cabinets.
• Keep all educational materials appropriately cleaned and sanitized.
• Participate in DCF Mandated Reporter, First Aid, and PMT training, if required.
• Report any unsafe or uncomfortable working conditions to the Building Administrator immediately.
• Work cooperatively with the teacher and provide a role model for children.
