About The Position

The position involves assisting in small group and individual pupil instruction under the direction of the special education teacher. The role includes various responsibilities such as maintaining discipline, supporting instructional activities, and supervising students during recess and lunch. The individual will work with both special education and regular students, assist in the implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEP), and perform tasks such as copying materials and preparing paperwork. The job may also require supporting students with toileting needs and involves alerting teachers to any observed problems. PMT (Physical Management Techniques) certification is required for this position.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or General Education Degree.
• Two years of college credit OR hold an associate's (or higher) degree.
• Successful completion of a paraprofessional assessment which assesses content knowledge in mathematics, reading and writing and an understanding of how to assist in the instruction of these topics (Parapro Assessment).

• May require supporting with toileting of students.
