About The Position

New Hartford Public Schools is seeking an outstanding candidate for the position of Special Education Paraeducator at New Hartford Public Schools 0.5 FTE.

Requirements

• Two years of college credit OR hold an associate's (or higher) degree; OR successful completion of a paraprofessional assessment
• Ability to read, comprehend and follow simple directions, short correspondence, and memos
• Effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations
• Effectively communicate with special education teachers
• Apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed, but uninvolved written or oral instructions
• Ability to problem solve scenarios involving a few concrete variables
• Knowledge of basic computer technology

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 support for medically complex student
• Assist in individual pupil instruction
• Assist teacher in maintaining discipline
• Assist teacher in data collection
• May escort child to and from various rooms
• Toileting may be required
• Regular attendance is required for this position
• Will involve work with special education student(s) under direction of a certified teacher
