Job Order Hourly Rate of Pay: $16.00 (Based on education and/or years of relevant work experience reflected on the application) This temporary position will be assigned to the NC Department of Public Safety, Juvenile Justice Division. The Educational Development Assistant /Substitute Teacher / Teacher Asst role will spend time covering classes and or assisting teachers in specific subject areas, preparing instructional materials, coordinating classroom activities and following lesson plans. Responsibilities may include assisting with lesson plans, providing classroom instruction, facilitating on-line classes and HiSET coursework, recording behavior and academic progress notes. This position will work collaboratively with subject matter teachers to provide instructional services to students. Candidate will provide student feedback through progress notes. Work hours are 7:30 am until 3:30 pm. Effective July 1, 2025, candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they have the minimum education and experience listed from the class specification. Requirements

  • High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and one year of experience working with students in an educational environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Ability to work with diverse youth population.
  • Ability to establish rapport with students in the program and their families.
