About The Position

The Boys & Girls Clubs of St. Lucie County (BGCSLC) takes changing the lives of youth to heart. We go above and beyond to ensure that every youth that walks through our doors has a world-class club experience that provides them with the opportunity for a GREAT FUTURE! The Educational & Behavioral Interventionist is responsible for providing direct individualized intervention services to club members and collaborating with teachers concerning club member needs, issues and learning initiatives, curriculum, and building issues.

Requirements

  • Must submit to and pass Level 2 background screening through the Florida Department of Children & Families
  • Must pass pre-employment drug test
  • Current Florida Educator's Certificate
  • Bachelor's Degree in Education, Psychology or any other related subject
  • At least 3 years of experience in the field of teaching

Nice To Haves

  • Current CPR/First Aid certification preferred
  • Some experience in not-for-profit is beneficial

Responsibilities

  • Observing and evaluating club member's performance and development while providing feedback to encourage student growth
  • Uses positive intervention strategies to support club members and promote their social, emotional, and physical growth and development
  • Use research-based literacy and/or numeracy intervention strategies to support students
  • Participate in Boys & Girls Clubs professional development related to best practice in content areas, assessment
  • Communicates with families for requested information
  • Collaborates with the teacher to guide behavioral and academic interventions, monitor student data, and ensure teacher support
  • Provide data-driven strategies that address equitable practices for improving student experiences and achievement
  • Facilitates a response to intervention framework for literacy and numeracy that supports differentiated instruction, closes the achievement gap and ensures high levels of learning for all club members
  • Provide problem-solving team participation, and enrichment opportunities for identified learning
  • Collaborates with the teacher in referring students for evaluation
  • Assist teachers and/or supervisors in implementing a reading program
  • Assist teachers with diagnosing reading strengths and weaknesses and match these skills with appropriate techniques and materials
  • Actively participate in BGCA training, internal training, and All Staff meetings
  • Report suspicions of abuse or neglect to the State Abuse Hotline
  • Support other projects as needed
  • Completes any additional assignments as requested by the Club Director
