About The Position

The Educational Advisor for Black Honors and Transfer Ed at Pasadena City College plays a crucial role in supporting student success within the Honors Program, particularly focusing on the Black Honors Cohort. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or its equivalent from an accredited college or university.
  • Two years of experience working with students in an educational setting.
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid California Driver's license by the time of appointment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide services to support students enrolling in college and retaining students pursuing educational goals.
  • Assist students in navigating processes including completing paperwork and financial aid applications.
  • Conduct group presentations to various audiences regarding college services.
  • Organize events related to departmental goals and student needs.
  • Prepare reports as needed and maintain data for reporting purposes.
  • Serve as a liaison between critical entities for student success.
  • Communicate information clearly in oral, written, and electronic formats.
  • Perform outreach, recruitment, and selection of students as necessary.
  • Provide academic, career, and personal advisement to participants.
  • Monitor student involvement and progress as necessary.
  • Support activities related to summer programs as necessary.
  • Review paperwork for accuracy as directed by a supervisor.
  • Perform general clerical duties as assigned.
