The Educational Administrative Assistant at Arlington Public Schools is responsible for providing comprehensive administrative support to a mid-level non-school based administrator. This role is essential for ensuring the smooth operation of the office and supporting the instructional program at Washington-Liberty High School. The position involves a variety of clerical and administrative tasks, including managing correspondence, scheduling, and maintaining records, as well as assisting with financial and budgetary tasks.

  • Serve as administrative assistant to a mid-level non-school based administrator.
  • Relieve supervisor of routine administrative tasks to ensure smooth operations.
  • Plan, initiate, and complete clerical and administrative support activities.
  • Maintain control records on incoming correspondence and action documents.
  • Manage supervisor's calendar and make meeting/travel arrangements.
  • Screen supervisor's telephone calls and mail, responding to those that can be handled at the clerical level.
  • Format and type confidential and general correspondence, reports, and statistical data.
  • Gather, prepare, and distribute training and instructional materials.
  • Procure supplies and materials for staff members using STARS.
  • Prepare and process bids for instructional supplies and equipment.
  • Provide clerical support to psychologists and school social workers.
  • Serve as receptionist, responding to inquiries and directing visitors.
  • Perform office-related financial, accounting, and budgetary tasks.
  • Maintain time and attendance records and process leave requests.
  • Utilize data management techniques to enter, edit, print, and file data.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Some college coursework in business management preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of business office procedures and practices.
  • Knowledge of computer programs utilized at APS (e.g., STARS/ORACLE).
  • Good knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and Access.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • Good organizational skills and ability to interact positively with colleagues and the public.
  • Experience in an education or education-related setting is preferred.
  • Full-time position with a salary range of $48.9K - $62K per year.
