About The Position

The Education Department Summer Intern supports the delivery of engaging, mission-driven educational programs that inspire conservation, curiosity, and environmental stewardship. This internship provides hands-on experience in environmental education, guest engagement, youth programming, and curriculum support within a dynamic public, non-profit educational destination. Interns will assist with camps, group programs, interpretive presentations, and interactive guest experiences while gaining exposure to program development, classroom management, and conservation education strategies. This position is ideal for students pursuing careers in education, marine biology, environmental science, zoology, conservation, or public programming.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated (within the past 12 months) from an accredited college or university
  • Pursuing a degree in: Education Marine Biology Environmental Science Biology Zoology Conservation Ecology Natural Resources Or Related Field
  • Strong interest in environmental education, conservation, and public engagement
  • Comfortable speaking in front of groups of children, teens, and adults
  • Ability to communicate scientific or environmental concepts in an engaging and understandable way
  • Positive, energetic, and professional demeanor
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to follow safety guidelines when working in educational and exhibit environments
  • Flexible availability, including weekends and occasional special events
  • Passion for inspiring curiosity and lifelong learning
  • Enthusiastic about conservation and environmental stewardship
  • Patient and adaptable when working with diverse audiences
  • Confident in managing small groups of students or guests

Responsibilities

  • Assist with summer camp programming and youth educational activities
  • Support classroom-style and hands-on learning experiences
  • Help facilitate interactive learning sessions for school groups and guests
  • Prepare and organize program materials and supplies
  • Provide interpretive information to guests in attraction areas
  • Support live demonstrations and presentations
  • Assist with Q&A sessions and educational discussions
  • Promote conservation awareness through positive guest interaction
  • Assist in updating lesson plans and activity guides
  • Support creation of educational materials
  • Help research environmental and conservation topics
  • Contribute ideas for new programming initiatives
