About The Position

The Education Specialist Teacher (EST) at the Los Angeles County Office of Education (LACOE) is responsible for providing specialized academic instruction to students with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) in an inclusive collaborative teaching model. The role involves case management of students with IEPs, ensuring the implementation of educational plans, and collaborating with teachers and para-educators to deliver effective services. The EST will focus on developing a culture of care and support for students, families, and stakeholders while adhering to the Common Core State Standards.

Requirements

• A valid CA Education Specialist Mild/Moderate credential.
• CLAD (Cross-Cultural Language and Academic Development) credential.
• Experience in providing specialized instruction to students with IEPs.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in co-teaching and pull-out instruction models.
• Familiarity with data collection and IEP goal tracking.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialized academic instruction to students with IEPs through an inclusive collaborative teaching model.
• Ensure student IEPs are implemented with fidelity regarding specialized academic instruction minutes, data collection, accommodations, support services, and assessments.
• Manage cases for students with IEPs, including implementation, interpretation, and reporting of academic assessments in preparation for IEPs.
• Collaborate with teachers and para-educators in the delivery of services and progress reporting.
• Develop lesson plans for direct instruction and encourage student progress through inclusive learning environments.
• Deliver meaningful and differentiated instructional content aligned to the Common Core State Standards.
• Support a classroom culture conducive to positive relationships and engage parents and families through consistent communication.
