POSITION We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Education Specialist to provide specialized instruction and support to students with special needs, ensuring they receive a high-quality education that meets their individual needs. This role will require a deep understanding of special education principles, effective teaching methodologies, and a commitment to student success. The ideal candidate will be committed to providing high-quality education to our students, fostering a positive learning environment, and collaborating with colleagues to achieve our school’s goals. We find it crucial to recruit, develop, support, and retain great educators as the key to the success of our students and the network.

  • Deliver tailored instruction that addresses the unique learning styles and needs of students with special needs, utilizing a variety of teaching methods and assistive technologies.
  • Provide individual and small group support to students as needed.
  • Collaborate with students, parents, and other stakeholders to develop comprehensive IEPs that outline specific educational goals and strategies.
  • Assess student progress regularly and provide individualized support and interventions as needed.
  • Maintain open and professional communication with students, parents, and school staff.
  • Work collaboratively with the school's administrative and support staff to ensure student success.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development activities to stay current with best practices in special education.
  • Advocate for the rights and needs of students with special needs, both within the school and in the broader community.
  • Oversee student safety and well-being during class time, recess, and lunch periods.
  • Enforce school rules and procedures consistently.
  • Be familiar with and follow school emergency procedures, including lockdown, fire drills, and evacuation plans.
  • Perform other duties, as assigned.

  • Ability to interpret technical terms, write clear and concise internal and external communications, and communicate information clearly.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution.
  • California teaching credential or ability and willingness to obtain a California teaching permit/credential if not already credentialed.
  • Employment eligibility that includes fingerprinting, tuberculosis, and/or other employment clearances.
  • Knowledge of public education and charter school movement, preferred.
  • 1+ years of experience working at school sites or experience working with children/youth, preferred.
  • Strong classroom management skills and ability to build rapport with students.
  • Demonstrated mastery of special education principles.
  • Ability to follow established routines and procedures.
  • Previous experience in charter schools, preferred.
