About The Position

The Education Program Specialist’s primary duty is the direct delivery and logistical support of ECHO’s STEM Festival outreach program and camp programs. The position’s secondary duties include the support of other educational programs in and outside of ECHO, including ECHO’s Early Learning (EEL) program and school classroom programs. The ideal candidate will have an enthusiasm for informal science education in settings such as museums and other out-of-school environments and previous experience working with science content and elementary age learners.

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree in education or related field.
  • Experience building and delivering memorable STEM learning experiences.
  • 2+ years experience working with elementary age children and early learners.
  • Familiarity or willingness to learn the Vermont Early Learning Standards and the Next Generation Science Standards.
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Comfort loading materials in and out of a truck. This includes carrying, pushing, and lifting up to 40 pounds as well as walking on a variety of surfaces.
  • Ability, willingness and comfort driving a small box truck.
  • Strong material management skills.
  • Fluent in Microsoft Office, Google Apps.
  • Ability to troubleshoot AV technology.
  • Enthusiasm for working with learners of all ages and creating joyful learning experiences.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic team setting.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills.
  • Committed to ongoing cultural responsiveness.
  • Means and ability to travel to offsite program locations as needed.
  • Enjoyment of a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Co-deliver ECHO’s STEM Festival program.
  • Safely load/unload large, mobile interactive exhibits to/from ECHO’s outreach truck.
  • Drive ECHO’s box truck to off-site events around the state.
  • Update and monitor ECHO’s STEM festival registration systems.
  • Teach youth summer and vacation camps.
  • Support the planning and preparing for youth summer and vacation camps.
  • Assist in the training of seasonal summer camp staff.
  • Support the development and delivery of the EEL program for children birth to 4 and their caregivers.
  • Assist classroom programs to preschool and K-6 audiences.
  • Greet and orient school groups.
  • Manage program materials and resupply of consumables.
  • Facilitate activities in the Engineer It! Exhibit space when assigned.
  • Assist in floor closure and clean-up when assigned.
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned.
