About The Position

The North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI) is charged with implementing the state's public school laws for pre-kindergarten through 12th grade public schools at the direction of the State Superintendent of Public Instruction and State Board of Education. This position is regionally based and requires 10-20% travel. This position is responsible for providing technical support and training for Public School Units in the implementation, management, and continuous improvement of high-quality Career and Technical Education programs that prepare students for college, career, and life readiness.

Requirements

  • Doctoral degree in education or in the special education field to which assigned from an appropriately accredited institution, and two years of progressively responsible experience in public education; or an equivalent combination of education and experience OR A Master's degree in education or in the special education field to which assigned from an appropriately accredited institution, and four years progressively responsible experience in public education.

Responsibilities

  • Position will ensure alignment with state and federal requirements while providing local Career and Technical Education Administrators and Work-based Learning and Career Development Coordinators with the tools, resources, and guidance necessary to develop and deliver high-quality Career and Technical Education programs.
  • Position will monitor work-based learning and career development compliance and statewide reporting of Career and Technical Education measures, such as course enrollments related to work-based learning, implementation of Career Development Plans, and local initiatives that support work-based learning and career development activities for students.
  • Position will work collaboratively with various stakeholders to develop and implement work-based learning and career development initiatives statewide.
  • Established rapport with practicing teachers, school personnel, administration and/or other education professionals.
