About The Position

Responsible for assessing, planning, directing, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating educational and infection control programs for health services and other departments. Serves as the primary contact for Health Services, professional, and supportive services staff education. Establishes professional education resources and provides instructional leadership for outreach programs directed to health care professionals. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of Virginia; maintains license in active status. Graduate of an accredited school of nursing program with a diploma or a degree. Current First Aid CPR/AED certificate of completion. Experience with senior populations preferred. Two years of supervisory experience preferred. JOB DUTIES Responsible for the prevention, investigation, monitoring, tracking, and reporting the spread of diseases to the department of health. Is accountable for the oversight, development, and implementation of infection prevention program to reduce risk to residents and team members and to improve quality and ensure mandatory compliance at Hermitage Richmond. Educates and trains team members on infection control prevention, protective equipment, reducing the spread of infection, mask fitting etc. Plans, organize and implements on boarding for new team members, re-hires, interns, agency and nursing students as required by Pinnacle Living, Department of Social Services and Department of Health. In addition, conducts department onboarding for new hires and re-hires to ensure proper training on how to use Point Click Care, SARA system and other nursing software programs. Plans, organize and implements in person education training programs and schedules all mandatory in-services for all team members. Maintains, tracks and documents all educational in-services through Relias. Provides additional training through review of survey history, individual performance, community performance improvement trend and input from community clinical leaders. Provides additional clinical training to team members who need more in-servicing on nursing practices. Completes all MDS's in Health Care. Initiates initial care plan. Schedules and conducts first aid and CPR training for team members within the community. Provides classroom and clinical instruction through observations, returned demonstrations on new health services equipment. Participates in the skills fair. Conducts medication pass observation for nurses and medication aides and ADL documentation for CNA's. Conducts the eating assistance training program to team members throughout the community. Attends and conducts reports as needed on infection control QAPI. Attends training programs and conferences outside the community to train clinical leaders, neighborhood leaders and team members on proper procedures. Creates educational bulletin boards, reference manuals and clinical newsletter. Conducts in-service training on health services policies and procedures review to ensure all team members are compliant and distributes nursing literature and educational materials as needed. Assures compliance with regulations promulgated by the Department of Social Services and Department of Health. Maintains and promotes compliance with the policies of Hermitage Richmond and Pinnacle Living, Inc. Maintains resident rights and confidentiality. Performs other duties as required, to ensure the wellbeing and satisfaction of Resident family.

Requirements

  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of Virginia; maintains license in active status.
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing program with a diploma or a degree.
  • Current First Aid CPR/AED certificate of completion.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of practices and procedures of long-term care; practices and procedures for clinical documentation.
  • Advanced knowledge of applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations.
  • Ability to read and write, follow instructions, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Advanced knowledge of computer applications and skills with an aptitude to learn company software.
  • Ability to smell, see and hear with or without assistive devices.
  • Knowledge of infection control regulations and practices
