About The Position

The EHR Education/Implementation Specialist at the University of Iowa is responsible for providing training and educational support for Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems to new and existing users. This role focuses on optimizing EHR usage, developing educational resources, and ensuring users are informed about system updates and functionalities. The position involves collaboration with various departments to coordinate training logistics and enhance user experience through effective communication and resource development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in education or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 1-3 years of experience in application and/or technology support.
  • Experience in developing curriculum and educational resources.
  • Experience providing training in both large and small group settings.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with a strong focus on customer service.

Nice To Haves

  • Education credentials and adult classroom teaching experience.
  • Working knowledge of Windows and Microsoft Office 365.
  • Experience with audio/visual editing software such as Captivate or Camtasia.
  • Clinical, patient access, or revenue experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Understanding of clinical workflows and processes to support patient care.
  • Knowledge of the Epic EHR system.

Responsibilities

  • Provide EHR training to new end users and assist current users in optimizing their EHR use.
  • Develop and maintain educational resources such as tip sheets, curriculum, exercise workbooks, videos, and assessments.
  • Coordinate class schedules, registration processes, and special request training logistics.
  • Assist with testing application software optimizations and upgrades in training environments.
  • Support end users with requests for Epic training support.
  • Partner with lead instructors to evaluate system functionality and identify modifications.
  • Provide one-on-one and group training sessions or presentations.
  • Create video training materials to enhance the educational experience.
  • Assist clerical and clinical staff in using EHR software.
  • Act as a credentialed Epic certified trainer for multiple applications as needed.
  • Mentor staff and leadership in specific areas of expertise.
