About The Position

Reporting to the Director of Education Services, the Education Facilitator, Multi-Grade is responsible for providing classroom supervision and implementing trauma-informed curriculum activities in a manner that promotes the educational development of each student. The position is full-time and works year round.

Requirements

Basic knowledge of Google and other database programs.
Ability to operate standard office equipment, including but not limited to: computers, telephone systems, calculators, and copiers.
Effective problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Flexibility, reliability, and self-motivation.
Ability to demonstrate professionalism, interpersonal skills, and strong communication skills.
High-energy, self-starter with a passion for NWACS’s mission is essential.

Demonstrated experience providing trauma-informed or special education services.
Twenty-one years of age or older.
High School diploma or equivalent.
Physical stamina and agility are required to care for active children and youth.
Physical ability to use authorized techniques for the management of aggressive behavior.
Valid driver's license, proof of personal automobile insurance, and acceptable driving record required to drive shelter vehicles for shelter business.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s degree preferred, teaching experience is a plus.
Experience working with children with trauma
Experience exercising Trust Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) and Therapeutic Aggression Control Techniques (TACT)
Relevant college courses or college degree (e.g., Education, Social Work, Human Services, etc.)
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel is a plus.

Responsibilities

Create an atmosphere for students that operationalizes our mission to provide the children we serve with a safe haven, high-quality care and hope for the future.
Create an educational atmosphere which exemplifies our values of compassion, excellence and integrity.
Ensure the Children’s Shelter mission and values drive student decisions.
Provide high-quality classroom instruction and oversight of the children.
Utilize appropriate lesson plans and other activities which stimulate and encourage the educational and social development of each child.
Directly provide day-to-day educational instruction and classroom management as assigned. Classroom subjects and assignments may change based on various factors; the Education Facilitator is not hired to teach a specific subject or class.
Build an environment that considers all aspects of wellness: nutrition, health, safety, decisions and choices, mental, as well as physical well-being.
Monitor and document daily the progress of all children in the classroom through the use of daily logs and the gradebook, and take appropriate actions to increase each child’s progress.
Maintain a clean and orderly classroom and school environment, including common areas, gym, and library.
Provide supervision for lunch duty, recesses, field trips, outings, etc. Some of which will require participating with the youth in indoor and outdoor activities.
Participate in the development and implementation of a hybrid summer program that incorporates typical summer learning experiences with various learning activities.
Establish effective professional relationships with peers, support staff, volunteers, supervisors, and other professionals.
Sustain relationships that result in active student engagement in the learning process.
Develop relationships and provide meaningful opportunities for volunteers to engage with the children at school.
Treat all people fairly and with dignity and respect. Protect the rights and confidentiality of students and staff.
Demonstrate personal and professional standards and conduct that enhance the school and Children’s Shelter.
Other duties as assigned.
