About The Position

The Education Director at Sylvan Learning Center is responsible for overseeing the educational programs and ensuring a high-quality customer experience for families. This role combines education, customer service, and business management, focusing on student performance, staff development, and operational efficiency. The Education Director works closely with the Center Director to achieve sales growth and maintain educational standards, while also engaging directly with students and families to foster a supportive learning environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Education required.
  • State teaching credentials (current or expired).
  • Minimum of one to two years of teaching experience preferred.
  • Experience in a supervisory role preferred.
  • Knowledge of current educational policy.
  • Previous retail and/or sales experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with instructional technology and tablet computers.
  • Experience using Microsoft Word and other standard business applications.
  • Knowledge of general office equipment such as copiers and printers.
  • Experience using social media (Facebook, Twitter, etc.) preferred.
  • Proven ability to engage, motivate, and inspire students to learn.
  • Strong customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Observe and coach instructional staff to ensure adherence to Sylvan's Instructional Management guidelines.
  • Manage and deliver conference activities, including preparing materials and meeting with parents.
  • Set weekly goals with the Center Director to drive sales growth.
  • Select and hire teachers, ensuring they meet Sylvan hiring standards.
  • Ensure all teachers are trained and certified to deliver Sylvan programs.
  • Schedule and manage teaching staff to meet Center needs and control labor costs.
  • Partner with the Center Director to manage day-to-day operations, including customer account management.
  • Motivate and develop staff by providing ongoing learning opportunities.
  • Administer initial and ongoing progress assessments according to Sylvan standards.
  • Monitor student progress to ensure goals are achieved and family needs are met.
  • Establish and maintain communication with classroom teachers to ensure Sylvan programs meet student needs.
  • Teach during instructional hours as needed, accounting for 20-50% of the time.
  • Make school visits to establish relationships for partnership and marketing purposes.
  • Check students in and out of the Center, ensuring their safety and well-being.
