About The Position

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE The Education Coordinator serves a variety of functions in a hospital setting. They evaluate educational needs, set educational goals, develop, update, incorporate, and implement both non-clinical and clinical educational programs that meet hospital accreditation requirements and improve medical practices for patients' safety and well-being. The Education Coordinator is also responsible for developing a curriculum to satisfy continuing education requirements for other medical personnel. This is a full-time benefited position working 80 hours per two week pay period. The hours are Monday - Friday.

Requirements

  • Minimum - Baccalaureate degree in healthcare field, leadership, or education. (If a degree is in Nursing, must hold ND Board of Nursing RN licensure) with at least 1 year of educational experience.
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in the healthcare field or in planning, coordinating, and delivering impactful educational programs.
  • Must be computer proficient, including skills in Microsoft Office.
  • Exhibits strong organizational skills with the ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrates flexibility by adapting approach to suit varying situations and changing needs.
  • Demonstrates excellent communication skills, conveying information clearly and professionally in both verbal and written forms while effectively collaborating with diverse teams and individuals.
  • Able to consistently apply creativity, insight, integrity, and initiative to solve problems and drive positive outcomes while encouraging and supporting team building through effective conflict resolution and problem-solving
  • Punctual and regular attendance is an essential responsibility of each employee at JRMC. Employee are expected to report to work as scheduled, on time and prepared to start working. Employees are also expected to remain at work for their entire work schedule.

  • Must practice aseptic techniques and observe Standard Precautions.
  • Participates in and complies with Jamestown Regional Medical Center Safety Management program.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with administration and department leaders to plan and implement educational programs on all shifts to meet the goals and objectives of JRMC.
  • Performs annual educational needs assessment and creates annual strategic educational plan per state regulations for employees including educational needs identified by leadership and all relevant quality improvement activities.
  • Responsible for the learning management system including the design and production of learning modules for organization wide annual learning.
  • Coordinate annual learning along with assisting leaders in the creation of new learning tools and resources within the learning management software.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources to ensure Education Policy is current and accurately reflects coursework requirement for clinical and non-clinical employees.
  • Participate in appropriate committees and collaborates to promote a high standard of care by licensed and non-licensed employees.
  • Identifies opportunities for education to support all quality initiatives.
  • Continually investigate methods for improving patient care.
  • Participates in developing, maintaining and updating written policies and procedures that govern the day-to-day functions of the facility with regards to employee education.
  • Provides for communication of policy, procedure and other appropriate changes to employees and gathers feedback from employees within the unit.
  • Collaborates with an interprofessional team to solve problems and change processes to improve function and quality of patient care and support systems.
  • Collaborates with the Medical Center Educator to provide support and resources for the execution of JRMC’s orientation/onboarding, precepting, and nurse residency programs.
  • Uses adult education principles and instructional design to provide an effective and efficient system of employee education.
  • Develops, coordinates and facilitates competencies at JRMC for all providers.
  • Develops, coordinates and/or facilitates in organizational and educational programs, including but not limited to, skill labs, Aspire, and trainings from external entities
  • Coordinates and organizes JRMC-led BLS, CPR, ACLS, PALS, NRP and CPI for direct care employees as required; may be trained in as an instructor in these certifications.
  • Facilitates or provides training to additional instructors of certification classes.
  • Maintains JRMC’s training site status for CPR, ACLS, PALS; coordinated with University of Jamestown and Anne Carlsen Center for certification partnership trainings
  • Organizes, coordinates, and facilitates the Emerging Leaders program, ensuring smooth execution, participant engagement, and alignment with succession planning goals.
  • Provides support to senior administration in the planning and execution of the Leadership Residency program, ensuring successful implementation and alignment with organizational objectives.
  • Serves as an Evidence-Based Practice (EBP) champion by promoting and facilitating the integration of research-driven methods into clinical and organizational practices.
  • Coordinates with the medical center educator and preceptor to review and develop training plans based on self-assessment conducted with a new hire, as designated.
  • Collaborates with supervisory leader in developing budget for the Education department needs.
  • Provides oversight of the mentoring program, ensuring effective matching, ongoing support, and program success.
  • Drives increased participation and engagement by leveraging technology to deliver innovative, interactive learning methods such as simulation and e-learning.
  • Fosters collaboration and partnership with external entities to broaden educational opportunities
  • Performs other duties as assigned or requested.
