About The Position

The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) has a unique combination of education, research, and clinical programs that encourages and supports teamwork and diversity. The Education Coordinator provides administrative, instructional, and operational support for the Department of Pharmacology. This role is responsible for coordinating educational events, supporting course logistics, managing department communication tools, assisting faculty and students, and overseeing procurement functions. This position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, effective communication, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a diverse academic environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in education, computing or related field plus three (3) years' experience coordinating education programs required
  • Knowledge of general office procedures and protocols.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
  • Knowledge of supplies, equipment, and/or services.
  • Skill in the use of personal computers and related software applications.
  • Skill in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
  • Program planning and implementation skills.
  • Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate departmental seminars, educational events, and training sessions; communicate with speakers, prepare materials, schedule venues, order food, and assist with setup and logistics.
  • Support instructors and course directors by preparing documents, collecting course materials, coordinating classroom or lab schedules, and assisting with course organization.
  • Manage ordering and receipt of laboratory supplies and equipment; prepare annual purchase orders and reconcile orders in Workday.
  • Maintain and update the department website, digital signage/announcement board, and weekly departmental newsletter.
  • Maintain student and alumni databases; prepare requested reports and surveys related to graduate students.
  • Provide general administrative support including mail distribution, phone coverage, document processing, filing, visitor assistance, and maintaining faculty calendars.
  • Serve as backup for travel coordination and reimbursement processing; support departmental committees such as the Faculty Search Committee.
  • Collaborate with administrative staff on departmental projects and initiatives.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
