About The Position

The position is responsible for the development, coordination, and implementation of the curriculum component as required by the Head Start program Performance Standards and state and federal mandates. The role ensures quality program service delivery while protecting the privacy of customers and families. The individual will work closely with the ECS Head Start Program Manager to meet program and departmental goals and objectives, providing direct supervision to the Head Start Coach and maintaining documentation and tracking systems for the Preschool program.

Requirements

  • BA/BS in child development, early childhood or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working with young children and families.
  • Minimum of 5 years of effective supervisory skills.
  • Demonstrated ability as a strength-based leader.
  • Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively.
  • Knowledge of Head Start Performance Standards and related frameworks.
  • Preschool experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of Creative Curriculum/Teaching Strategies Gold/Child Plus preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to present information to community groups.
  • Family Service Credential within 18 months of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, coordinate, and implement the curriculum component as required by the Head Start program Performance Standards.
  • Ensure quality program service delivery.
  • Protect the privacy of customers/families and hold in confidence all information obtained in the course of service.
  • Work closely with the ECS Head Start Program Manager in meeting program and overall departmental goals and objectives.
  • Provide direct supervision to Head Start Coach.
  • Develop and maintain procedure for documentation, multi-disciplinary team information, and tracking systems for the Preschool program.
  • Provide oversight of curriculum to ensure fidelity.
  • Collaborate with Regional Coordinators to ensure developmentally appropriate classrooms.
  • Ensure teaching teams use data and child outcomes for intentional planning.
  • Plan and deliver in-service trainings.
  • Ensure planning and implementing of transition activities for children and families.
  • Train and assist staff in documentation, implementation, and monitoring of the curriculum.
  • Ensure compliance and continual improvement in all areas of service.
  • Review required program documentation for accuracy and compliance.
  • Conduct CLASS assessments and review scores.
  • Monitor and evaluate progress of strategies and plans.
  • Guide teachers in using data and child outcomes for planning.
  • Provide training and ongoing support to designated staff.
  • Collect, review, and analyze data for program reporting.
  • Follow interview procedures for staff vacancies.
  • Facilitate orientation for new staff.
  • Perform 90-day and annual performance evaluations.
  • Review all Preschool performance evaluations.
  • Complete required program documentation and record keeping.
  • Recruit families and promote agency programs within the community.
  • Participate in personal and professional development activities.
  • Attend community events and meetings to support agency programs.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
