About The Position

Participates in the design, implementation and evaluation of orientation, staff development, and continuing education relevant to ophthalmic specialists. Also, works to provide staff training and materials needed to successfully pass the Certified Ophthalmic Assistant home study course and Exam. Helps to coordinate continuing education for staff currently certified. Maintains unit specific standard of practice based on current literature and professional standards of practice. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• A minimum of 3 years working as an Ophthalmic Specialist is required.
• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Current certification as a COA (Certified Ophthalmic Assistant) COT (certified ophthalmic technician) or COMT (certified ophthalmic medical technician.), preferred.
• Strong skills in refracting, tonometry, slit lamp, eye anatomy and ocular pharmacology.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.

• Current certification as a COA (Certified Ophthalmic Assistant) COT (certified ophthalmic technician) or COMT (certified ophthalmic medical technician.)
