About The Position

The Education Coach provides coaching and support to the Early Childhood Education Staff. The Education Coach is responsible for observing and assessing classroom and home visit activities; providing coaching and modeling best practices for education staff and Family Enrichment Specialists; and providing supportive, respectful interactions with all staff through application of professional knowledge to work with adult learners. This position requires excellent communication skills to advise staff in teaching strategies related to the Head Start Early Learning Outcomes Framework, curriculum implementation, and Conscious Discipline techniques. The Education Coach functions in an advisory and consultative capacity to increase the quality and effectiveness of teaching in the Early Childhood Program.

Requirements

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education or qualifying degree.
Experience: Teaching experience in home or center-based settings with children birth to five.
Management Experience: None (does not supervise).
Licenses/Certifications: None specific.
Other Requirements:
Physical exam and/or T8(V) exam
Updated immunizations
Three references
BCI/FBI background check clearance
Signed Standards of Conduct Form
CPR, First Aid, Child Abuse Prevention, and Communicable Disease training
Valid Ohio Driver's License, insurance, reliable transportation
Insurable under agency policy
Willingness to complete van pre-service training (must be 21 and insurable)
Ability to lift 40 pounds and stoop/bend to speak with children
Audio/visual skills sufficient to care for children
High professionalism
Personal cell phones not permitted in classroom

Nice To Haves

Experience mentoring or supervising staff.
Extensive years of teaching experience with children birth to five.
Training or experience with Parents as Teacher Educator, Conscious Discipline, High Scope, and/or COR Advantage.
Experience advising staff with CDA process.

Responsibilities

Assess all education staff and home visitors to identify strengths, areas of needed support, and which staff will benefit most from intensive coaching.
Utilize Practice-Based Coaching (PBC) and Together Learning and Collaborating (TLC) models when coaching staff.
Provide opportunities for intensive coaching, including observation, feedback, and modeling of effective teaching practices.
Provide professional development opportunities aligned with program performance goals.
Follow and adhere to the CAC Coaching Plan.
Document all coaching sessions, including training, time spent with coaches, resources, travel, follow-up sessions, and progress.
Assist with curriculum planning and implementation.
Provide supportive, instructive, and non-judgmental feedback.
Treat new staff as colleagues and provide observation and needs assessment within 45 days of employment.
Mentor staff through observation and feedback on strengths and areas for improvement.
Help implement CDA training and support CDA certifications/renewals.
Work with Education team to ensure curriculum fidelity and data analysis.
Handle confidential information in accordance with agency policy.
Participate in team meetings to deliver collaborative services.
Respond appropriately to crisis or emergency situations.
Monitor lesson plans to ensure curriculum adaptations to meet individual goals (IEP/IFSP).
Track documentation of home visits, attendance, screenings, reports, and other essential records.
Monitor children's educational files for Head Start compliance.
Assist with monitoring transition activities into and out of Early Childhood Programs.
Participate in program planning and ongoing monitoring, including Program Self-Assessment and Strategic Plan.
Assist in monitoring ongoing assessments per Head Start Early Learning Outcomes Framework and Ohio Early Learning Standards.
Assist in ordering supplies for classrooms and trainings.
Maintain CLASS reliability certification annually.
Conduct CLASS and program quality observations, provide feedback, and set improvement goals.
Ensure maintenance/security of facilities and request needed supplies.
Participate in/writing minutes of staff meetings.
Document all relevant parent contacts.
Provide limited emergency transportation for families as needed.
Encourage volunteerism and parent participation.
Drive safely at all times and follow Ohio laws, regulations, and CAC policies.
Secure children in safety harnesses or car seats.
Complete annual 2-hour ODJFS Driver Curriculum Training.
Complete all driving duties and paperwork.
Obtain annual T8V physical or as requested by supervisor.
Adhere to agency safety policies and procedures.
Read and follow all agency policies, licensing rules, and Head Start Standards.
Maintain knowledge of Community Action Programs and resources.
Report criminal/traffic offenses that could affect insurance coverage.
Avoid social networking sites during work time (unless program-specific).
Participate in committee assignments.
Keep all areas clean and orderly.
Perform additional duties as defined by supervisor.
Assist with recruitment and enrollment to maintain full enrollment.
Substitute for staff as needed.
Complete 15 hours of annual training.
Participate in professional development (including overnight stays).
Maintain a pleasant demeanor, positive attitude, teamwork, and professionalism with families and staff.
